To be fair, the team at Design Lab did get our vision for the kitchen and bath remodel we planned, and their designs did, eventually, work out. HOWEVER, we’d suggest, should you opt for their services, to be very clear about what services they plan to provide and to be certain that they are doing what they promised correctly. In our experience: 1. Design Lab represented themselves as the lead team for our remodel. Without telling us, after we hired the contractor they introduced us to, they signed a contract with the contractor and Design Lab became a subcontractor. This created confusion for all parties throughout the project. 2. We kept the same footprint in the kitchen. Despite this, Design Lab did not measure the existing cabinets correctly. The cabinets they ordered for one wall would not have fit. Fortunately, the contractor identified that issue, but it led to a 2-week delay. 3. There was a gap from design to construction, which was our choice. By the time the project started, the kitchen cabinets we had selected were no longer available. Rather than telling us, Design Lab simply ordered different cabinets they thought we’d like. We didn’t like their choice. This led to a 4+-month delay, during which we had no kitchen. 4. Design Lab often did not order sufficient quantities of materials (like tile, cabinet filler, crown molding, kitchen cabinet knobs). In the deal they made with the contractor, Design Lab apparently maintained control over ordering materials and supplies. This added time and frustration, because projects could not be completed in one visit from the trades brought in by the contractor. All these issues led to completely using the contingency piece of the project budget, even though there was only 1 change order ever made. 5. Design Lab incorrectly ordered the backsplash tile, when they made up for the shortage of the first order. We had 2 different style tiles waiting to be installed, but fortunately this was spotted by the contractor before the tile was to be installed. Design Lab also ordered kitchen knobs that were different from what was in the specs. All of this made a project the contractor estimated would take 6 weeks ultimately take 8 months!

My wife and I met with Sandra, Bri, and the whole team recently and had an amazing experience!! We’re building a custom home in Scottsdale (our first) and the design process became quite overwhelming until we discovered the magic of the Design Lab. From our first email and phone call I could tell that they were true professionals with a keen eye for our modern farmhouse aesthetic. We set up a 2-hour appointment at the Lab and met with the whole team who carefully and thoughtfully laid out each room all the way down to the cabinets, flooring, lighting, hardware, countertops, and plumbing fixtures. The designs were fresh, unique, and exciting and totally exceeded our high expectations. To be able to check all the boxes at a single location in just a couple hours is incredibly valuable and unusual. We would’ve spent countless hours for each product selection and had “too many cooks in the kitchen” blending their thoughts about style and selections. The design lab provides a one-stop shop with talented designers and an unmatched cohesiveness. Their dedication and communication to finish off the project since the meeting has been impressive especially during this pandemic. I would strongly recommend this experience to anyone building or remodeling. You will not be disappointed!!

Jake helped me find the best lighting for my project, taking what I had in mind & making it work for my space. There’s a great range to choose from, they had everything I wanted. With so many choices they helped cater for all of my needs

Very disappointed in Design Lab. We hired them for 2 bathrooms and a master bedroom closet. Contractors are still working but getting close to finalization yet there is still no closet which should have been here by now. Just heard from Bri that the closet will ship from Chicago July 26 and will be in Phoenix the following week. All of our clothes and shoes are laid out throughout the house making life miserable while one half of the house is blocked off for renovations. BE CAREFUL UP FRONT ON TIMING WITH THIS COMPANY and THEY WILL NICKLE AND DIME you along the way for various things they forgot to order. I will show you receipts if they say otherwise. Also, if doing bathrooms, know that they don't price the shower doors, sliding doors or granite counter tops. That will also be an expense you will pay additionally and you will have to order on your own as we did. Truthfully, you can do the design yourself. hind sight is 20/20. Hoping the closet get here soon!
