Having traveled around the world I would have to say that the place we stayed in there on Catalina (330 Whitley #1) is the worst place I have ever stayed, including some incredibly cheap/sketchy places in the Philippines. The carpet was soggy, the bathroom vent was completely clogged with dust, the kitchen was ancient and had stuff from previous tenants, the bed boxspring had puke on it and didn't sit well on the frame so the bed sagged, the pull out bed frame was bent so the bed wasn't flat at all, the electricity went out multiple times and would barely flicker for most of our stay, the window screen was broken so the window couldn't be opened without letting bugs in, we found multiple cockroaches, the place didn't have any smoke alarms, no padlock on the front door, there were 2 tvs in the place that we didn't turn on because they were only about 16", there wasn't a bbq like the listing said, the washer and dryer weren't in the building but were actually outside in the backyard, you could hear every movement from the people above you, the wifi was terrible, and overall it looked like the place hadn't been fully cleaned in years. Besides all that it was cheap (for Catalina ~$100/night) and it came with the option of a golf cart for another $75/day. The manager was nice enough to give us a ride up to the place, which walking with all of our baggage would have been terrible. We wanted to check out a different property from them for our next year and he wouldn't let us see it though, makes me wonder if all of his properties are as terrible as the one we stayed in. I honestly wish it wasn't as bad as it was since the cost seemed reasonable for the island. Hoping one day I will find something nice out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
